Around the college

We are all students at Abu Dhabi Men's College.

We have to be in the classroom on time.

Physics and chemistry lessons take place in a laboratory.

There are no healthy food outlets in our canteen/cafeteria.

I read books and magazines and also do IELTS practice in our college library, which is large and well-stocked.

Student services organise activities for us.

The academic office performs many administrative tasks, such as issuing ID cards and arranging exam schedules.

There is a special learning centre in our library, called the Active Learning Zone, to provide students with extra help with their English.

Conferences and large meetings are often held in the college auditorium, which is also where we do our progress tests.

He gave her a black look.

There were grey clouds in the sky and it looked like it was going to rain.

Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet and so are you.

Orange juice is full of vitamin C.

Egg yolks and lemons are yellow.

Car specifications

This table shows us some of the specifications of the four new car models. Now, in this essay I’m going to describe their details.

The four cars have some features that distinguish them from each other. The cars are the Toyota Corolla, the Volkswagen Golf, the Ford Focus and the Nissan Micra. Both the Toyota Corolla and the Nissan Micra are manufactured in Japan and their price is nearly the same; the Toyota is $ 15,550 and the Nissan $ 15,500. Another difference between them is their engine size and their miles per gallon. The Nissan Micra engine is 1200cc and it does 52 miles per gallon whereas the Toyota engine’s was 1400cc and it does 48 miles per gallon. The Volkswagen Golf is manufactured in Germany and costs $ 18,250. Its engine size is 1600cc and it does 40 miles per gallon. The last type is the Ford Focus. It is imported from the USA and costs $ 15,800. It does 50 miles per gallon and its engine is 1400cc.

The most expensive car and the least economical, the VW Golf, has the biggest engine. The car with the smallest engine, unsurprisingly, is the cheapest and most economical.

The Top ten date- producing countries , 2001

The bar graph shows date production in tonnes for the world’s top producers in 2001. It shows the top ten date-producing countries.

Egypt is considered as the best and the biggest producer and its production exceeded one million tonnes. This is immediately followed by Iran with approximately 0.9 million. Following them the UAE and Saudi Arabia are competing with about 740,000 tonnes each. Pakistan and Iraq were not very far behind the advanced producers with about 630,000 tonnes. The rest were not much in terms of total productivity. Algeria provides the world every year with approximately 400,000 tonnes and Oman about 250,000 tonnes. However, production in Libya and Sudan is much less abundant.

In the end Egypt and Iran were the most productive in 2001. On the other hand, Libya and Sudan were the least productive.
